  • Damn IRQ's

i cant take this i have a Intel Se440bx-2 mothterboard p3-500 running win2k final, maxtrox g400 DH 32,Sb live value, network card, micosoft ACPI, and the intel PCI-> usb controller thingy, all on IRQ 9
i cant manually overide any of them them
my motherboard has no setting to hard set an irq to a certain slot. ive moved cards around. but made no differnece.. i even deleted the microsoft ACPI thing. and for about 3 minutes the irq's changed but when it made me reboot. it came back to the way it was.. i cant do much it freezes. i surf the net. and play mp3's so my ethernet.sound & video are all using irq9 at the same time.

    What can i do.???

    please help.

acpi routes everything through irq 9. DOn't worry about it, acpi will prevent any irq conflicts

k well just cause you say so,. doesnt mean its doing it
cause when ever i play mp3's or anythig sound wise. by internet kicks out.. (stops working) since both my internet (ethernet, cable modem) and sound card. are on the same irq

if acpi routes everything .so no conflicts.. where is the option to turn it on. cause it doesnt seem to be working . (please not im not trying to be mean or anything im just frustrated)

go into your BIOS and disable the IRQ auto-assign for the VGA..

try that.. if that doesnt work.. then.. try disabling auto-IRQ assignement via the BIOS.

mess around with those two settings.. itll be in PCI/ISA/PNP config or something like that

i had the same problem.. i had IRQs 5 and 7 open and nothing was going there when it had been before. after i changed the settings like 12 times.. FINALLY my G400 went to IRQ9 allby itself and everyhting dispersed to the remianing IRQs..

BIOS manufacturers and OS manufacturers should talk to each other more

disableing irq for your vga will stop any attemps for you to run windows 2000 or and games that use directx or opengl

Umm... do any of you read? The answer was already posted - there is no problem. Under ACPI, all the IRQ's are SUPPOSED to be the same. *sigh*
