  • How to build a RGB connection to TV

    The scheme I've used to make the cable is the following:

    G400 minidin
    7 pin <--------------> SCART

    1 (red/blue ground) <----> 5/13
    2 (green/rgben grnd) <---> 9/18
    3 (red signal) <---------> 15
    4 (green signal) <-------> 11
    5 (blue signal) <--------> 7
    6 (rgben signal) <-------> 16
    7 no used

    On the SCART connector I've used also the pins 2-4-6 for audio connection and the pins 17-20 for composite connection.

    If anyone want the connector: I've to build it MANUALLY... I've used a special glue after the insertion into the female connector of 7 pins builded with wire of copper welded with tin.
    The connector works fine (otherwise i cannot view the movies from my PC) and i've used a professional cable (the length is 4mt) that i've payed $40.

    MINI-DIN CONNECTOR
    MALE, 7 CONTACTS
    FRONT VIEW

    .../---v---\
    ../---------\
    .|-o---o--o--|
    .|o---o--o--o|
    ..\--=====--/
    ...---------

    The pins' signature from top left to bottom right is:

    3 - 7 - 4
    1 - 5 - 6 - 2

    but if i set my TV on a channel while my PC is playing a DVD i cannot view the TV because I've the two images merged. This happens also when I use the teletext of my TV...
    I see the G400 signal overlapped to the teletext. Anyone know if I've made some error?

          Sounds like pin 16 on the scart (blanking signal) is not carrying the voltage your tv needs to know that is needs to only display RGB. Make sure that pin 16 is caring at least 1v when the RGB signal is coming out. Also you may need to actually set the TV input for TV to the input the scart is connected to.

          See http://www.gamesx.com/hwb/co_Scart.html
          for a reference on the scart standard.

          Also you may want to do a search on this forum, look for RGB and you should find posts by myself and others regarding how to wire up a direct cable (bypassing the matrox tvo cable).
