Unable to install 5.04 drivers in Win2k!!

Can someone please help here? I have tried to run the setup program and it says "no matrox card found". What is up with that? Then I tried to do it the manual way and have win2k find a more current device and it said that there is no device driver compatible with my hardware. I then tried to specify the location and do it the "brute force" method and it worked, but I don't think I have the current powerdesk and all the other features that go along with drivers. I then tried to run the setup program again with the new drivers installed and again I was told that matrox can't find a compatible device. Can someone help me please? Do I need to completely uninstall everything then point it to the forlder with the new drivers? Why won't my drivers upgrade? I also have the proper card (SGRAM and not SDRAM).

Also, what kind of improvements in games will I see with the 5.04 drivers? Are they better?
