  • Can't get my G400MAX to AGP4 on a 7KXA

Tell me which drivers to get and which to install first, second...

I've set up my comp 3 times during the last two days. Sometimes I get AGP2, sometimes AGP1. I'm downloading PDesk 5.3 and will see if it works with 5.3. 5.52 and 5.41 didn't do it. All Bios settings are okay.

    I have also tried the Via4in1 4.18 and 4.20 - nothing.

    Anyone have the same problem?
    How to reach AGP4????

DO NOT USE THE 4-in-1 PACKAGE!!! Download the stand-alone AGP GART. Is available on VIA's download page at the bottom. Uninstall whatever GART you installed first with the same 4-in-1 pack you installed it with.

I install the GART first, then the vid drivers.

I have had bad luck on my 133a chipset with anythng newer than PwrDsk 5.41. YRMV..

If you want to force 4x, read here: http://forums.murc.ws/ubb/Forum5/HTML/008193.html

      Hey thanks!

I've already tried these registry settings using this resolution manager and a lot of reboots.

I will wipe the 4in1 out of my system this evening after work and post if t works.

The only way I have been able to get 4xAGP to work is running the PD5.52 drivers and setting my APG Aperture size to half my physical ram installed (128Mb = AGP Aperture of 64Mb) any higher and it would drop back to either 1x or 2x.

However the only problem was that these drivers are too unstable for the VIA Apollo Pro 133A chipset so I was forced to re-installed PD5.30 which I can only seem to get 2xAGP.

If my Aperture size is set higher than half my RAM the 1x is shown.

        I am running VIA4in1 4.17 drivers.

I guess I'll wait for the next Matrox drivers to be published.
