  • Just upgarded to a KA7 and added 10FPS under Quake III

Just upgraded my Asus K7M to an Abit K7A - what can I say - lovely motherboard. It does have some installation issued under Win 2K - thanks to Nuno for his advice - finally got everything running - AGP 2X, not 4X yet - although Matrox are bringing out a program to force this on my G400 Max.

Quake III arena frame rate jumps from 34.0 FPS with 1024 x 768, 32bit colour, highest quality setting. Looks like 133Mhz memory spped makes a real difference. The motherboard has also solved all my opengl stability problems - although under Direct 3D, 3D Mark 2000 still crashes to desktop (crap benchmark for Athlon systems anyway).

What can I say - one happy camper!!!

Let me know how the rest of you have got on with this motherboard.

DG, 3Dfarq2000 has a known bug init pertaining to W2K. I had a link on this, but now all I get is their "D'oh" page not found message. Figures

Cheers Greebe, I've heard a lot of bad press about 3DMark 2000 - I do like the demo though.

I'd rather stick with the Ziff-Davis benchmarks anyway, the results seem far more consistant.
