  • G800 rumors shot down!

Taken from the Sharky Extreme article on the G450:

    Matrox Leaving Gaming?

"We asked Matrox if the new direction taken with the G450 is a sign of them eventually leaving the gaming market entirely. They replied that Matrox would have a new gaming solution around the end of summer. There are currently rumors running around the net as to what that next-generation hardware will be. When questioned, Matrox said that these rumors were inaccurate."

I wonder if this is good or bad =)

The big M responded correctly and this is a good sign.

Remember that Matrox very rarely talk outside of an official press release, they were saying pretty much the same thing about the G450 a couple of weeks before its announcment.

At least they said something ...

if that ain't a good sign

And 'inaccurate' doesn't mean that those rumours were not true, it's just the nature of rumours being not 100% correct.

            Cheers,

PS: Can't wait 'til they do announce their next 'gaming beast'

I don't think that Matrox will ever drop the gaming side from their graphics cards (so many gamers out there, such a move would = suicide), however, remember the G100 - a card aimed squarely at business. I think the G450 is a repeat of this, and if the success of the G400 is anything to go by, will find a strong placement in the business sector.
