Well, in case anyone cares, the drivers don't seem to work at all on my system. Course it's probably an incompatability with something else in my system. To make matters worse, I haven't been able to succesfuly switch back to the 5.03 drivers either. So, it looks like it's time for a clean install again.

    Sigh, oh well.

Yeah, it's incompatible with your Athlon chip/board combo. Hehe. Only kidding. Good luck though!

HedsSpaz: I do have the 5.06 working with my G200, so it IS possible (have MVP3 chipset btw)

I haven't tested Quake2, but XTom3D, also an OpenGL game, actually works, although it being slow and with the very same visual bugs I mentioned months ago for the Windows98 drivers...

Btw, has anybody found a way to hack other resolutions? I'm aware of the "1280x960" hack, but have been too lazy to try other resolutions as well. (I want to try 1400x1050, ideal on my 19" Iiyama Vision Master Pro

Ow and what happend to the 2048x1536? It is possible with the standard W2K G200 drivers..

Stability is excellent, although I had one system-freeze since I have the 5.06. But it can be something else as well..

          Hi !!

Have You played good old Half-Life ... ??
Mine gets all black when trying to return
back to menu .. I assume that this is some
kind of D3D mode switching issue ..
(This happen even when ACPI uniprocessor ..)

Unreal (non-tournament one ;-) gives some
texture flickering when all graphic candies
in D3D are turned on .. It seems that
the base texture and the fine detail
overlay texture swaps order occasionally ..
This can be seen especially on grass fields..
(ACPI multiprocessor /W 5.06 hangs to black
or reboots after couple of minutes ..)

OpenGL seems to be very slow and even worse ...

Hope they get the drivers working while
I'm having the card .. It could be the
3rd generation coming out (G800) before
the drivers work .. if ever .. sad ;-(

Just tried 5.06 and I can´t understand why Matrox doesn´t advise them to all G400 based cards (as a beta release). They install flawlessly (I had a small nightmare with 5,04), they are stable, performance is improving (at least I got 3 fps more in quake2, yippee ) and for the first time I was able to run 3DMark2k (2600 3dmarks, ~100 less than in win98).

So far they look better than 5.04. If Performance improves 3 fps in each driver release, I can live with that

              Sorry Gurm,

I posted the last two posts within mins of each other?

Not quite sure how that happened.

I have resolved the D3D/OGL problem in Win2K, just curious as if there was a more stable driver out there.

              Cheers for the help.

                Found the 5.06 driver..

I could have sworn that I had not seen it there before.

I think i am experiencing problmes with my browser. I have to manually refresh the browser inorder to load the updated page.

                hmm....

                  DOH!

System date was set to 2003?

I wonder how long its been like that!

Gurm.... other things that should be on the bug list:

                    - UT Z-Buffer bug: (best way to repoduce is to zoom in into the other towers 'cage' in Facing Worlds.
                    - EMBM partial implementation only: try the bumped flame demo.... no flames! (I did not check the 5.06 drivers yet for this)

Thief-engine games have worked fine on my pc since the 5.03 drivers..
