  • G400 very slow in Win2k

    I'm using the latest drivers
    System 450mhz
    128 ram
All games are very dark in Windows 98

Dark or slow or both? There are gamma issues with OpenGL in W2k, but there are work arounds.

Speed should be comparable to Win 98, say within 5-10%. Also, it sounds terrible but 128M aint enough anymore. You'll see quite some improvement by going up another 64-128M.

128mg of Ram is more than enough for most.
My card is sharing IRQs with two other device
in Windows 2000 no way around that. I guess its the drivers, guess its a waiting game

128MB should be enough for Win2K - I've got 256 - but I'm also running other macines on combinations ranging from 128 - 64MB - your Matrox card will share IRQ's - this a feature of ACPI - but the card shouldn't be running slowly - Win 2K should be as fast is not faster than 98 - maybe if you post some more info i.e programs you're running, other cards in you're system etc. we might be able to help.

            keyhole, Damien,

Run Q3 and check out your peak commit. It uses every bit of 256M.
