  • Win2k D3D (with G400Max) and other ?'s

I just ordered a G400Max to replace my agingly ill STB Riva128ZX. As I eagerly wait for it to get here I had a few questions about it that I was hoping someone knew the answer to.

    1. I couldn't find any mention anywhere about D3D support under Win2k pro. I would presume it has it, but I'm unsure.

    2. Alpha blending is mentioned as a feature. Is this done in hardware? (Windows 2000 supports alpha blending in 2d. Winamp's Advanced Visualization Wtudio can use this and it's pretty sweet.)

    3. What is the max refresh rate on the secondary monitor at 1280 by 1024 ? (The PDF manual says 75Hz) I recall reading elsewhere that it was only 60Hz.

    Thank,
    Seth

    1. D3D support under W2k is pretty good, there haven't been any driver updates for a while though, so there are some outstanding issues.

    2. Alpha blending is on the way, looks like it will be PD 6, but no release date.

    3. Not sure, but there are quite a few people very unhappy with the current dual head support in W2k.

I'm using the G400 in Win2k Pro right now.... Direct3D support is quite good, with the only bug I know the UT z-buffer problem. In OpenGL there still are a few small problems (not really that big issues at all). Soon my G400 driver bug site will be online.... I will tell more about that soon.
