I've got both the Asus K7M and Abit KA7. Both boards are pretty stable, but as with many Athlon boards, setting them up can be quite difficult.

For speed I would reccommend the KA7 (which powers the Athlon 800 machine upon which this message is being written) - and it comes with all the latest features i.e 133Mhz memory support, AGP 4x. However you will encounter problems setting it up if you're going to be using Win 2K - these are all documented on Toms Hardware guide (http://www.tomshardware.com) - and solutions are provided.

If you want an easy ride when you come to set the board up, I would choose one of the boards Gigabyte offers. It doesn't posess the overclocking features present on both Abit and Asus motherboards - but is quick and simple to set up, and apparently - very stable.

As a general rule of thumb - remember:

AMD 750 chipset - more stability and easier to set up.

Via KX133 - more speed but trickier to set up - but once running - very stable.

Anyway hope this helps a bit.
What do you want a signature for?
