  • AGP 4X on Win2K

I have a G400 MAX with an Asus K7V. Right now, PowerStrip and WCPUID report 2X on Windows 2000, both with the default Microsoft AGP drivers (11/99) and with the new VIA AGP drivers (viaagp1.sys, 4.03). I am using 5.06 PowerDesk drivers. How do I enable, or force, 4X? Is there a registry entry in Win2K that I can use? (I don't think the Win9x registry entry will work, but I could be wrong.) In Win98SE, PowerStrip reports AGP 4X, and my system runs stable (using the VIA 4.00 AGP driver).

I don't want to sound like a 4X whiner, because I think that the performance difference is practically nil. However, I do want to at least test the difference and see for myself what will happen. I also figure that, if 4X is stable in Windows 98, then it should be stable in Windows 2000, right?
