  • Problems rendering graphics in 2D! Please help!

    Hello everyone!

If there is a company one can compare to Matrox that's Terratec Promedia.

They make great hardware but the drivers don't help much. Anyway recently all we Terratec users became very happy because Terratec decided to release W2K drivers which provide (finnaly) ASIO 2.0 support etc.

The problem is that in my machine, most of the applications which accompany the new driver release have a "distorted" GUI. I emailed Terratec support for this (they do reply the same day most of the time=) and they said it might be a graphics card driver problem because on their machines it runs fine. People at the Terratec forum gave me the same answer.

To undertand what I mean here's a screenshot (sorry for the size and quality):

So do you really think it might have to do with my Matrox? I'm using drvs ver 5.02 (or whatever the latest for the MAX, I know there are new drivers for the Marvel etc but there is no need to upgrade until official drs come out). I have had no problems with my MAX under W2K to date, not even one lock up...

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks,
    GD

It doesnt look like you are, but if you set your font size to anything other than the default, you can get the same error.

I have exactly the same problem with vmware. I think it is a direct draw bug, because vmware has an option to switch off dd and use the GDI instead, that fixes the problem.

Have you tried running dxdiag and disabling direct draw?

        Hi!

Disabling direct draw doesn't seem to help much... Thanks for your interest though... Anyway do you think emailing Matrox for this would yield anything good?

        Thanks,
