windows 98 doesn't reboot (freezes) with G400

When my G400 is activated (matrox drivers, any version), the system can't reboot normaly. All programs close and it stays with the background and the mouse pointer forever. I installed a new win98 on a new partition, but as soon as I installed my G400, the problem came back.
I installed an old card (Cirrus logic) and everything works fine.
The problem happened soon after the installation of bios 1.6. But even by "downgrading" the bios to 1.5, I can't reboot.
I tried with and without VIA 4in1 drivers.
I can't stand using a 1M Cirrus Logic PCI when I wave a 32M G400 AGP on my desk.
Please help me.

try turning your agp memmory up to 128 or 256 in bios.i had similar prob and that solved it.

Try using the 5.41 drivers - that's how I got my machine to stop locking up.

I've also heard that earlier versions of the VIA AGP driver work better than the later versions. I don't know what I'm running but I've had it since Dec of last year (4.17 maybe)

Problem solved, don't know how, but solved.

Maybe old soundblaster drivers that I removed.
Now I can get my RainbowRunner!
