  • removing V3 to install G400

Well. I received a RMA # for my G400 but I don't know how long these things take.
In the mean time, I 've got a V3 to temporarily put in the computer until my new G400 arrives.

I am mindful of the difficulties in removing all traces of V3 drivers and registry entries before reinstalling G400.

I've never edited a registry before.
Does anyone have any knowledge of specific problems I could be facing with the V3 to G400 switch?
    TIA

I hate uninstalling 3dfx drivers. Running the uninstaller doesn't do a whole lot in terms of removing the zillions of 3dfx files and registry entries.

If memory serves me correctly, you should do searches in the Windows directory and the registry for 3dfx, Voodoo, and Glide. I'm pretty darn sure this leaves something else, however. (Glide files in game folders?)

Windows automatically backs up your registry and keeps, I think, four backups handy in case you screw up. Restorations must be done in DOS.

Here's a page with some tips for backing up and restoring your registry:

I was afraid of that...went through the same garbage with my old Banshee before Diamond came out with a very good uninstall utility.

*Lets thank Matrox once again for their PDUninstall Utility*

      Great link to Bob's.
      Thank you very much!
