"Talking about being confused, Paul, if DVI stands for Digital Video Interface, what kind of Video Interface have we been using till now? Analog G400 ??

Video signals are changed from digital to analog to transmit to your monitor. Once it hits the monitor it goes from analog to digital. With DVI it will be straight digital

Besides that you could've posted it shorter, DosFreak, can you run that by me again?

So you're tlling me the cable I have between my monitor and my G400 is an analog cable? Which means I have to buy a new (and propably non-existant as of yet) monitor with (equally non-existant) digital cable for use with a DVI card?

Or did I miss it in the translation?

          Jord,

There are, in fact, Digital monitors available right now. They do require different outputs (they are flat panels in most cases) from the video card. With the G400 you had to purchase the DVI addon to allow interface with these. Video cards comunicate information to analog monitors (The CRT you most likely, and I are using right now) using a RAMDAC. A RAMDAC is a digital to analog converter built onto the card which outputs through your normal monitor connector. With DVI there is no RAMDAC interface to output from the card.
