  • G400 Max + 133Mhz FSB?

I got a brand new system with a 667MHZ cpu and 133Mhz FSB, 128MB memory, and a G400 Max. With this configuration, Quake3 runs for about 1-2 minutes then exits to the desktop.

After trying a lot of things, the only thing I was able to do to fix the problem was to UNDERclock the FSB to 100Mhz. After this, all the problems are gone.

Does this point to a problem with my system RAM, or a problem with my G400?

My early max runs fine on a 148mz (99mz agp) bus.
(system isn't stable because of pci overclock though )
    142 is totaly stable.
My guess is that it is your memory.

Yep, your problem would seem to point to memory. If you are underclocking the system to 100, then you must be running a VIA/820/840 chipset, which has the AGP at 1/2 at 133, right where it is supposed to be.
If you are running on a BX board, you are still overclocking at 133, even if you have an EB chip

Yes, It is a VIA Apollo Pro chipset, and is 133 normally. I got PC133 Atlas Precision memory with a lifetime warranty, so I'm gonna just send it back for a replacement.

          Have you checked processor/g400/chipset temperatures?
