I'm afraid he's got a point there. Correct me if I'm wrong but that fill rate translates to some thousands of FPS at 2048x1536 resolution.
All together now: BS!
Do you think those specs are impossible to reach ?
I think it is possible in the very near future ... just compar how tremendously the overall performance of PCs have grown in the last couple of years !
I mean I get 2.5 GIPS on more than 1 GFLOPS out of my 100$ CPU ...
Despite my nickname causing confusion, I am not female ...
While I am skeptical about the figures quoted I'm not that Matrox will be powering the beast. Remember though this is not something that will appear tomorrow but something that will probably be out in 2 or 3 generations time as far as Matrox chipsets go, it certainly won't be powered by a G450 or G800, so it'll probably be out Q4 2005

Remember that people often tend to overestimate the rate of development in computer industry. Just read any sci-fi book written in 60's about year 2000; it's 2000 now and no even reliable voice recognition to help our everyday lives, not to mention hover cars. Who would have believed in the 60's?
While, say, 6 years in this field sounds like something in which we should be able to reach real time performance for the type of animation Pixar features in animated motion pictures today, I bet the leaps won't be such great at all.

And they are pushing the limits. Isn't Intel having tremendous problems delivering their top CPU's and chipsets because making them stable is just not that easy?
