Matrox Users and Rage3D published the next generation roadmaps of Matrox and ATI.
The Matrox G800 looks very competitive. It contains a T&L chip that can do about 25 million lit polygons per second and should feature the fastest (250 MHz!) DDR SDRAMs. It has been rumoured that this chip will be available before Christmas this year.
ATI will produce a ATI Radeon 256 Maxx, a dual chip version of the ATI radeon 256. With more than 12.8 GB/s memory bandwidth and up to 3600 million texels per second, this videocard should be a real screamer. According to Rage3D, ATI is determined to take away the speed crown of nVidia.
A small overview: Videochip Fillrate (million pixels/texels per second Bandwidth
G800 600/1800 8 GB/s (250 MHz DDR)
ATI Radeon 256 MHz 400/1200 6.4 GB/s
Geforce 2 GTS 800/1600 5.3 GB/s
Well, I hope that this means that nVidia got some serious competition. Because right now, as you can read here, nVidia rules the high end (gamers) market.
