This may have a solid answer to some of the the G400/VIA Issues!!!

I upgraded to the BX chipset since I had an old Celeron 366 laying around. Got a new IWILL MB (is this a good manufacturer?) and put the old celeron on it and all runs well.

It looks like my problems were motherboard related, the FIC did not run very well with the G400. The G400 ROCKS on the new board.

Still waiting on the response from FIC. Slackers are working over the long weekend!!!

My G200 never worked with Bus Mastering on with my VA503+, with a K6-2 300 or K6-III 450. My G400 runs fine with BM turned onat AGP2X without forcing, and apart from being a bit jerky at 1024x768 in Fifa2000 is fine with my K6-2 500. IT even works at 550 in BeOS.
That being said, FIC suxxors. They wouldn't give me the component value of L16 (a surface mount inductor that was damaged rendering my 503+ useless) although I had already ordered another 503+.
Methinks I may buy a MSI MS-6340 and Duron 700 for $290 from www.mwave.com or do so at month end to give my little single head G400 more power to chew on, or maybe I shall buy one of them G450s
