G400 & Hitachi

I have some problems with my monitor: Hitachi CM769ET.
At regular times I get a lot of horizontal lines on my monitor. (just a sea!)

First I thought it was my hitachi monitor, but when it get replaced it stayed!

Now, I think it's my G400. It isn't someting with the drivers (I use all the latest) or my system. I tried my monitor on an other system with a G400 and there the problem was also. On a non-G400 system, the problem didn't happen.

On my system I use a resolution of 1600 by 1200 (32 bit color) at (106 kHz by 85Hz).

Is there someone with a Hitachi monitor also? Are there customization files for the CM796ET that I can use in the monitor settings in the display properties?
When I choose for "Adjust the current display mode", I get a lot of things I don't understand! Can someone explain these things (like front porche, ...)

What can I do about my problem?

Are you able to reproduce the problem at lesser resolutions/refreshrates?
1600*1200@85Hz seems a bit harsh on a 19".
I once had a 19 " Hitachi CM751 which could only do 1600*1200@75Hz.

your monitor is very good (a friend of mine owns one). I have a CM753ET and i can do 1280x1024 w/out probs @85Hz.

Have you tried fixing the moire? It worked for me...

A lower resolution doesn't solve the problem on my system ...
The reason I bought this monitor was the high resolution at 1600 by 1200!
I also tried to adjust the moire effect, but the problem stays?! (not all the time, but regularly)

I think the problem is something with the settings of the monitor and G400 ... but I don't know how to solve it.

With Powerstrip I can adjust my monitor also, but the Hitachi CM769ET isn't listed... can I add this monitor?

I installed the monitor in WIN98SE with the official inf-file from Hitachi.

The problem is gone with a resolution of 1600x1200 at 76 kHz / 60Hz!
But this isn't really the best for my eyes!!

Anyone a suggestion to solve my problem at a higher refresh rate?

What type of G400 have you got. Some have been complaining of flickering lines before on this forum.

I thought moire problems were exclusively a monitor issue.

Can you take it back? In my experience, if they don't go away after adjusting the moire controls, they just don't go away.

I have a G400 w/ Hitachi CM769ET. In order to remove the effect you mention, try the following:

1)Install the monitor as "Hitachi CM753ET"
2) In Windows Display Properties, goto Advanced -> Adapter and change refresh rate to "Optimal"
3) In PowerStrip, goto Monitor Configuration and select "Use Windows monitor". Set the prefered frequency for 1600x1200 to "85Hz". The complete frequency set I use (starting from 640x480 and ending at 1800x1440) is 120,120,120,100,100,85,70

Let us know if it does the trick, ok?

I got a mail from Hitachi:

Dear Customer, Thank you for the e-mail, and sorry for the delay in
replying. I have reconstructed your problem using a CM753ET which was
the predecessor to the CM769ET, and found some information which may
of interest to yourself.
I believe you may have your monitor set to the Matrox specifications
and would like you to change this setup. First go into the Windows
control panel and select Matrox Display properties. Then click on the
monitor tab and choose Windows Plug and Play monitor, then go to the
setting tab and play around with the resolution until you feel
comfortable with the view (my view is most likely different from yours
as everybody perceives things differently). Apply the changes and
click okay, reset your computer and note the changes if any. If you
find the monitor is already selected under the matrox monitor
settings, then try to find the drivers under this heading for the
CM769ET, if none are available then it would be a case of getting in
touch with Matrox themselves and asking if they provide customised
files for Hitachi monitors.
