Something I should have mentioned earlier really:

Don't run the benchmarks with the sound turned on (to be honest, I didn't know there was any sound).

It's gonna sap some of those CPU cycles, so turn it off and repeat the tests.

Also, turn off anything running in the background (Seti, Anti-Virus and so-on).

I like playing my games with sound on, so whats the use disabling sound?

Oh, I know. It's just like sawing off your hmm thingy and extend it whith a 10 inch stick. Now it's very long but it won't function.

Well that's two threads I've infested with my raunchy insinuations. Maybe I ought to do something about it....hrmmm

Running games with sound on is fine, but when you benchmark, you are usually trying to get as high a performance figure as possible.

Most of the gaming sites (or hardware sites) that run framerate tests on games have the sound turned off. It's mostly done to see exactly how fast a game engine runs on a particular platform with a certain set of features enabled.

              I don't think it will make much difference. I got 2988 marks with a P3 650cu, 256MB PC-100 RAM, G400 MAX and Win2k (no overclocking).

My AGP is only running at 1x as the machine locks up when I try to put it any higher.

A friend of mine has a similar spec PC but with 384 MB RAM, and I narrowly beat him on every single test, and his MAX is running at 2x.
