A moment of silence for the demise of Matrox's Macrovision backdoor.
Unfortunately, the "Display Properties" method of disabling Macrovision has been officially identified as a bug...which means Matrox will have to close this loophole in a future driver release.

Our friends in T.S. ain't happy about it, but that, unfortunately, is the law.
Add RPC2 DVD to the mix (Hardware region locking), there will be much misery and confusion in the coming product cycle over DVD movies and desktop video.
My advice: Save your old drivers, and buy a non RPC2 DVD deck NOW. The newer ones are gonna be a real pain thanks to MPAA.
