G400MAX Rant.

Ok, So I changed processors froma PIII 600@800 to a PIII 700@933. I was hoping to see some sort of improvement in my FPS in UT. Ran the Phobia Demo and noticed no difference, 3DMark 2000, No difference, And what suprised the hell out of me! Expendable with bump mapping on was exactly the same as the PIII 800. I have heard (I don't know of course if it's true or not) that the G400 maxes out at 800Mhz. With all the new cards out there now and soon on their way am I wasting this fast a processor on the MAX? I am asking because games like MDK2 seem to be awefully dicey in parts where the texture usage gets pretty wacky.

At those cpu speeds, I think the capabilities of the G400 Max are maxxed .

I think when you really did not see any speed boost, your VSync is enabled ...

If it wasn't, there must be something else majorly wrong in your setup, also it could be helpfull if you posted your benchmarks properly, i.e. resolution and what settings.

I think my system is OK, I tested it with (now don't freak out or anything) my roommates GForce DDR and saw some quite respectable gains in 3DMark2000 with the overclocking. I used the reghack to disable vsynch on the G400 and everything ran perfect, Just no speed increase. It's not such a big deal for me anymore as I will just run the card as it is, I dont think 4400 3DMarks is too bad, I just wish I could hit the elusive 60FPS in UT which I had hoped a faster processor would have accomplished. Either way no biggie. I have it running at 960Mhz now and all seems stable at default voltage which was a suprise and the temerature is still only maxing out at 31C. Not too bad for a processor I paid $199.00 bucks for at a computer show

I stated above I was getting 4400 3DMarks, THat was incorrect I am getting around 3400. Sorry 'bout that.
