Am I missing a trick here?

I would like to play DiVX movies using DVDMax on a DualHead G400 (non-MAX). I have heard of other folk accomplishing this feat, but don't know if anyone has done it with Win2K.

Is this possible? Do I need to enable any settings? I'm using the 5.03 drivers since 5.10 didn't seem to agree with my system. Suppose they would make a difference?

Come to think of it, I don't know that I've ever had DVDMax working. I don't have my DVD drive in this machine, so I don't have any DVD player software installed. There doesn't seem to be a version of the G400 DVD software for Win2K as far as I can tell.

    Any suggestions?

you can't use DVD Max on DivX ;-) movies which do not have a horiontal res. that is not a multiple of 32 (like 720 x Y-axis-size movies)

Wait for the release of the 3ivX codec, then they should work fine.

In the mean time, you can use the PixelTOUCH hardwarezoom (powerdesk hotkey option) to get a full-screen fluent picture. It's not as good as the real thing, but it's ok to watch.

Is there a way to determine what the horizontal res. is on a movie?

Windows Media doesn't seem to give me this info with a DiVX movie.

I guess DualHead Clone will have to suffice in the interim. Thanks for the replies.

right-clicking the movie should give you the properties in Win2k, else you should see the properties when you go to the movie info (or properties) in media player, unless you deleted that divxc_32.ax file (then no movie will use overlay, even movies with a horizontal res. devisable by 32)

We are talking DiVX, the windows video codec, and not Divx, the failed DVD wannabe pushed by Circuit City, right?

Yes, the movie codec, not the wanna-be pay for play DVD format.

I'll try yet ANOTHER DiVX install. I seem to have to reinstall the codec every time I restart my machine, else Media Player tries to update the codec itself, which (of course) fails.

I'm using the 311alpha version; is this the latest? From what I can see, it should be.
