I was wondering if there was a good detailed guide to overclocking the G400 Max? I want to experiment with pushing mine a bit. What would be the best program and any recommended settings to try??
Is there a version that works with Windows 2000 or Win ME? the tweak program says only 95/98 and I ran it on WinMe and it said unsupported and crashed out!
is there a better Tweak program to use? or is this the only one?
Are you by any chance using the 6.0 beta drivers?
They aren't supported by Matrox Tweak Utility.
In stead you can use MGA Tweak 1.20
It's not as easy to use though but search the MGA Tools forum for mgatweak and you're in for some reading.
I recommended it, because it is easiest to use and very reliant (Matrox should know how to OC their own cards).
Anyway, I wasn't aware that it wouldn't be working with PD6.x and therefore you should haed over to www.entechtaiwan.com and grab Powerstrip ...
Best and most variable OCer is MGA Tweak, as posted by Sisyfos.
It lets you use different dividers for the graphics and memory clock, so that you could squeeze even more MAX out of your card.
As a rule for easy determination which component failed:
white dots & false pixels => memory failing
lock up under heavy load without 'drop outs' => G400 chip failing
... and keep the reset button in reach ...
Cheers,

Despite my nickname causing confusion, I am not female ...
Thanks for the link will download MGA Tweak 1.20 now
Maggi any tips on what I should set my G400 Max too? just as a rough outline then I will just tweak them a bit more to see what I can get
increase the main PLL in 5 MHz steps until you see one of the above mentioned glitches.
Then depending on which part failed (G400 or memory) do some calculations and change the dividers to enlarge or shrink the gap between MClk & GCLk.
