Right, the at 21.7%, but now for something completely different... This is a quote from their homepage:

And for those of you that don't speak German... the upshot is that the results for the G400 are unrealistically high. Some "complete idiot" (Vollidiot) voted roughly 400 times during July the 20th... They will "correct" the results afterwards to give the G400 6%...

I guess that the combined readers of the MURC-forums count as one Vollidiot.

          Martin

Back when people were doing polls on which is your favorite site for this and that, it was found to be a bad idea for the sites in the poll to inform their readers about it.

Sure they got almost all of their readers to go to the site with the poll and vote for their favorite, which in the end only meant that the result is completely meaningless.

Those sites which linked to the poll got plenty of votes, those which didn't only had a few.

When making any kind of statistics, you have to select an average audiance for the results to have any meaning at all. That's for example all the people who were already frequenting the site which did the poll. Not these people plus a whole bunch of MURCers who never ever would have visited their site otherwise.

That said, I did vote for the G400 when Maggi posted his message, though only once, not four hundred times. It's still fun.

              Hi Guys,

I mailed that site about that comment and asked them if they could have a lokk into here so that they can the it wasn't only one fullidiot ...

I pointed out that we are 5887 registered users and I think if we all had voted, the poll could have taken a really strange turn ...

Thanx for your effort, dudes !

Dear Matrox-users, please stop manipulating our poll!

Yes, i mean the poll from http://www.3dcenter.de! You can see the current results at http://www.pollnow.com/Qus/QusExec.cgi?QusID=116445 - with Matrox G400 scoring 21.4% and thus top-rated. We all know this is unrealistic!

For you it is fun seeing your favorite card winning. For us - it isnt!

Well, now let's hit the nail on the head:

1.) FIRST READ - THEN THINK - FINALLY VOTE! Some of you didn't even know WHAT they are voting for. The question was: "Which 3D-chip do you currently use?". Got it, paulsc?

2.) VOTE THE **** ONLY ONCE! Poll-stats are WORTHLESS when users vote multiple times... You don't mind? We do! Remember - for us it is hard work to keep the site up!

3.) STOP MANIPULATING US! Some guys think it is cool to vote with 20 different IPs, I don't have anybody special in mind, ALBPM aka paul!

To all others who votet once (or maybe twice, for their brother's 3d-chip...): thank you for voting - please visit us again, we appreciate your opinion and your vote!

If you can't follow the 3 steps above - stay away from our site! You're making the poll uninteresting for all other users. Always remember: shit in - shit out!

@Maggi: du hast es wohl gut gemeint, shit happens!

BTW: we'll take results from 18th July: 6,0%.

who cares? it was loads of fun!

If you really want to know what videocard people are using, than you _shouldn't_ list the results until AFTER the closure date/time of the poll...

this way you're only asking for things like this to happen, and I hope you learned from it...

Agreed 400 votes from a single source is wrong, but I will not vote just once! I have a Millennium G200 and a G400 Max! I also voted for a friend whom has a G40Max, but no Inet access at the moment.
