  • New drivers also fixed the DVDMax anti-macrovison "bug". :-(

Doesn't work anymore. So now I'm forced use older drivers if I want to watch DVD's on the crummy TV I have next to the computer (no video input, have to pass the video thru a VCR).

You must thank some really stupid guy, who oficially informed Matrox about that "bug" on their forum, and he even didn't get what he did

Absolutely right on all counts there, Dualbuzz. He thought he was doing the other customers that come to that forum help by explaining to them how the drivers had a bug that allowed them to get around the Macrovision protection. Unfortunately, since those were posted to the 'official' Matrox support forum, the techs (who by the way, KNEW about the feature.. er.. problem) had to log the entry as a bug report. If the dufus in question had simply made a post here somewhere, all would've been fine. (May be not- most likely that it'd been covered here sometime in the past, hehe, and he'd have got the big- "Don't you ever look before you post" welcome. )

Anyhow, the end result was expected. The latest drivers would disable the workaround (or officially, "fix" the bug, as necessary for tthe big M to get certified on the drivers).

At least you now know that we do read our bug forum.

        Sorry, bad joke

There's a bug in the new drivers! It's ah... umm... Yeah, it makes my computer explode whenever I play a DVD with DVDMax active! So you guys better just switch back until you fix the new problem.

(Nah, you'd probably be forced by the crummy DVD overlords to drop DVDMax all together.)

You have an evil sense of humor Haig, but we DO understand.

Guys, it just means we have to "buy" a reprocessor (which is the right thing to do anyway), or get a TV which can handle composite video.
