  • IBM 6091-19 how to get it to work?

    Greetings.

I have aquired an old IBM 19" monitor, which I would like to use!

I have found the settings to add to the old MGA.MON file, but how do I use these settings with the new powerdesk?

The monitor is a fixed frequenze type, so its quite hard to get to work using the new powerdesk way of editing monitor settings. All help appreciated!

Here are the settings that should make it work with the old drivers:
    [User-Defined.Customized IBM 6091 Mode 3]

    hello,

just saw your question regarding the usage of the g400 with fixed frequency
monitors. You will have a settings in the display settings/advanced were you
can choose all parameters (refresh rate horizontally/vertically etc.)
Or you choose one of the profiles. I have had a IBM 6091-19 inch (67HZ) myself and this
was the only way to get it working.

The only frequency my was working was 67HZ (refresh rate) and a picture of 1280*1024.

The disadvantage is that you have to make the settings with another monitor. set it and then connect the ibm 6091-19 ( mode 3).
Also you will not be able to see the screen flimmerfree before windows has loaded the drivers and is started up.Please bear this in mind. If you want to change your motherboard settings you will have to connect another screen again.

    Good luck

      Thanx!

That was more or less what I would expect.

Just too bad that I could not use the work that have gone into making these modifications to the mga.mon file..

      =)

Ill try to get it to work by following Ur recipe. Its a shame tho'. Great monitor, would be nice to really use it to its fullest.

Woah thats quite odd, I've got one of those old things on my desk here at work (at IBM...).

Beware of turning it on before your windows driver has loaded. I tried to connect mine to my laptop and couldn't find a display setting that it worked with.
Unfortunately it didn't seem to appreciate the desync too much and now flashes white blobs on the screen and just flickers madly from time to time.

Wonder if I can persuade this laptop to do 1280 at 67Hz... at least then I would have a real monitor to look at.
