DVD problem

Everytime that I start my DVD's I get this pixelized green shit where the movie would be. I am using the Matrox DVD player but I'm not sure what version or any of that stuff. How do I check? I'm using the one that came with my MAX's cd back when i got it, so probably where should I dl the new one from? It will do this weird stuff no matter what is int he background. I can run/not run seti/winamp/anything else and it will do this green pixelized stuff.

I'm using pdesk version (hmmm, not sure what version because I clsoed it for seti...) whatever the latest non-beta was. Sorry, my mind is not here now. No smart ass remarks please.

MSI K7 PRO @100
Athlon 700 @ 850 1.75vccore
128 megs ram
G400 MAX
toshiba dvd rom
and some other stuff which I don't think is necessary....

No IRQ conflicts or anything like that.

If you have any ideas, please let me know.

Ok, this problem occurs in win98 SE.

As long as you mentioned win2k though, I have winDVD 2000 sitting on my win2k desktop waiting to be installed. That is for win2k right as opposed to just a new version of winDVD? Thanks.

Yeah, winDVD 2000 is an update to the older winDVD that makes it work in Win2k (as well as Win98/NT/etc).

I was going to suggest that you got some newer dvd software, but it looks like you have, let us know how it turns out, but if you still need help you might want to mention what movies it is doing this with and shit like that.

kinda OT, but..

Considering the fact that Creative Labs controls something like 80% or more of the sound card market now with their SB Live! card, DVD is useless at this point with Windows 2000 if you want true Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound.

That's why I still have Windows Millennium Edition on my system - for DVD's and games (EAX is all fscked up with SMP in win2k).

Hopefully these issues will be fixed once Microsoft releases DirectX 8 and Creative Labs does a follow-up Live!Ware release.
