  • G400 Dual Head & Legacy Cards ??

    Hi,

I currently have a PII 350 with an 8MB Matrox Millenium G200 graphics cards,
a Creative Labs PCI Voodoo 2, & a Creative Labs DXR2 Mpeg card ( part of the
    DVD Encore package ).

    I have recently purchased a 32MB Matrox Millenium G400 DualHead card & a
PIII 550 Slot 1 Processor as upgrades to the system.

Should I leave the Voodoo 2 & DXR2 cards in the system ?

Should I consider getting a Rainbow Runner G-Series as a replacement for the
    DXR2 card ?

Anyone got any benchmarks to help show benefits / difference ?

    Any advice appreciated.

    Cheers

    Terry

    Terry,

Regarding the first question, if you want to play Glide based games (most EA games) keep the Voodoo 2 in there. The DXR2, I'd suggest try playing a video without it in and compare to see if you find the improvement in CPU usage worth it (G400 compared to the DXR2). The Rainbow Runner G is not a TV-out/DVD decoder it is a TV-in/video editing card, so no don't replace your DXR2 with it because they perform different functions. Hope I've been able to help and that I've made some sort of sense.
