  • Just overclocked my vanilla through the bios, have some questions

Just put it to MAX values, tested it for stability and forced the MAX drivers on it.

How does a G400 MAX report in the Information section of the PD's Properties ?

the vanilla info looks like this:

    Graphics hardware
    Model: Matrox Millennium G400 AGP
    Graphics chip: Matrox G400
    Memory: 32 MB
    Memory type: SGRAM
    RAMDAC: 300 MHz
    ..................

How do the MAX pins look like ?

I want my vanilla to be detected as a MAX when I install the drivers (not to force the MAX drivers), so, anyone knows what must be modified in the pins to do so ?

Just a silly question, how do one BIOS o/c the card? Are there any utility for that?

I just did a search on this topic and I can't belive how many times people have asked for the MAX pins but nobody ever posted them. The only clear thing (if you can call it like that) was "The MAX should have a unique PCI subsystem ID of 0x217D".

One question, anyone know how to edit this so that the syspll clock would be 415.13, the warp dividers + grafic dividers @ 2.5 and the memory dividers @ 2? (giveing me a 166.05 mhz gclock/wclock and 207.56 mhz memory)
i just can't seem to figure it out.
-EDIT- that pins.txt file is for my g400 MAX

              Here is some more information:

              http://www.clark.net/~flatline/pinsprog.txt

But don't count on increasing your fps with changing the clock dividers.

My goal still is to get it detected as a MAX. I have a G400 DH 32 SGRAM, model 105 and I flashed the pins from the MAX model 105 and... nothing, it still won't get detected as a MAX.
Now, on that japanese site they leave out this part of the pins:

                :filetype TOUCAN
                :PCBinfo 906-01
                :SubsystemVendorId 0x2179102b

My vanilla has it like that and Scout's MAX has it the same. That's why I wanted for someone to post their MAX pins, to check the ID.
If I try to put "0x217D" the card won't get detected when I install the drivers, not even as a vanilla, just as a Standard VGA Adapter.
So, how does PD know if it's a MAX or another card, from the bios (the ID part) or from somewhere else ?

One more question for Scout. Is your card (a MAX) detected as a MAX when you install the drivers or as a "Matrox Millennium G400 DualHead" ?
                (it happened to some people)

Nope, detected as a matrox g400 dualhead, with all the new drivers it no longer detects and installs specific drivers for it, as there is no real reason to (after all, there basically the same)

                    Dig further, man!!!

The Subsysid as written in PInS file should be 217d102b of course. There is one more place to change, cleanly visible if you look long enough. Maybe MXINFO will be some help...

You mean loacation 6,8,10,61,71 and 81 ? Oh, and introduce location 34 ?
beside the RAMDAC and clock locations.

how'd you manage to do that?
mine won't even detect it as a MAX

In your case you just have to change the :SubsystemVendorId (last line) from 0x2179102b to 0x217d102b.
I also had to change locations 61,71 and 81 to get it detected as a MAX (beside clock,RAMDAC and ID).

Can't say that using MAX drivers increased performance, didn't expect it to do so anyway. I just wanted to have a MAX
