  • AGP 64MB test failed in 3DMark 2000 v1.1

I can't run the 64MB AGP texturing test in Win2k ('not enough AGP memory'), while I have 256MB RAM (just upgraded ), and AGP aperture size is set to 256MB in the BIOS.

    ALso, WCPUID gives the following:

What does the GTBL, AGPRSE and AGPDCD mean? anyone?

I've searched the forum, and have seen many nobody that could run this test in win2k, where it works fine with most people in Win98... a driver bug or a OS limitation? (or a 3DMark bug)?

Update: 3DMark says it only can use 48709KB texture memory in total... what's up with that?

    anyone else?

I've been seeing this since the first G400 drivers were released for Win2k.
Its annoying when you want to use 80Mb of textures, but at least it recognises the low texture limit now and doesn't just freak out and start applying random areas of memory as textures instead (looks quite psychadelic sometimes).

        Hi dZeus,

ever thought about defragging your mem before launching 3D Mark ?

What read out does Powerstrip show ?

          dZeus,

I had the same problem so I dropped my Arpeture down to 128MB. Problem solved.

I've tried changing the aperture size... no effect!

I don't know how to defrag memory, and I doubt if it has any influence on this issue. If I do a clean reboot, taskmanager says 177MB physycal memory is free, and the problem still persists.

Powerstrip reports it can use only 15.8MB of non-local memory for textures, which matches the 48907KB of memory 3DMark reports (32MB local + 15.8 non-local).

Whatever I do, this just remains at 15.8MB, so memory defragmentation is not likely to be the problem....

Must be a driver issue (I will put it up my website very soon)

Same thing here dZeus...my 16mb G400 could pass it under Win98 with the 5.41 drivers, but the 32mb card under Win2k can't. Odd.

Matrox Tech support told me that a bug in Windows 2000 prevents the videocard from using more than 16 or 32MB Aperture size.... very, VERY odd MS didn't notice this themselves!

I will forward this information to the proper department and see what they can find out

                      Update:

the error is in the Intel AGP GART driver for the 440 line of chipsets... it has been limited to 16MB RAM for AGP textures.

I am wondering if people with a VIA chipset, or a Intel 8xx chipset suffer from the same problem...

                          Asus CUSL2 (max 64MB aperture).
                          3DMark 2000 v1.1 reports 15-16MB non-local depending on desktop resolution.
                          I can't run 64MB test.
But this is on Win soMEthing (ahem).

Got the same thing on my new Dell system at work. It's an i815 motherboard with a P3-733 and 128mb RAM, running a GeForce 256 and win2k. When 3dmark gets to the 32 or 64mb rendering test, 3dmark aborts.

                            I don't think it's a G400 problem.

Well, I´ve got an AMD 750 mobo and I get the same amount of AGP memory. So definitly not an Intel AGP GART problem.
