      hello,
Wonder if those of of that bought a Marvel G400 should have wiated for the G450? I really do not think so, because we still have many of the features and we can add many of the features not included free or cheaply. Also, it looks like the new one the G450 is a real horsepower Hogging user needing at least 500-800 MHZ just to process the applications. But, on paper it looks very good. Some games and 3D apps and games do not work well on the Marvel G400 so anyone that wants to do both lots of gaming and what the Marvel does best all-in-one better think what the real purpose of the card wil be for. I love my marvel G400, but in D3D and gaming, it has some problems, not sure if it is due to drivers, Directx, or both, but on paper and in the ads Matrox sure knows how to write and description that makes my mouth water for their cards. I hope this thread stays here and doesn't get sent to the soapbox closet for a time out - )

I love marketing. Everything has to have an "e" in front of it. Presumably the "e," as in e-mail, stands for "electronic."

Electronic TV is kind of like wet beer.

I guess mTV was already taken. By the way, the G450 is now officially an entertainment board ("the most complete multimedia entertainment solution..."). Let the flames begin!

I don't think anyone with a G400/RR-G or G400Marvel should feel like they should have waited.
The new G450 eTV is all software capture, unlike the hardware abilities of G400Marvel/RR-G. It will take a mighty beefy processor (800MHz+) for the G450 version to match the capture capabilities of the G400 version with a much lesser (500) processor.
While software capture/encodeing/decoding is undoubtably the way of the future, many people today are not running 800MHz+ machines yet.
In fact, for many ppl, G400 Marvel or RR-G would still be a better solution, at least untill they have stonger overall systems.

I thought they implied there was some hardware mpeg2 capture(encoding), but the extra procesing power was only required for dvd playback(decoding) and time shifting.(Wheres the tardis)

Hold on, think of who are Matrox' biggest buyers? OEMs. Therefore, if they buy the eTV, then it will go intro brand new machines. New machines? We're talking PIII-700's at least now, so it shows this card is for new machines, NOT for upgrades. People with lesser machines should go for the G400/RRG.
