Matrox released a formal press release on the G450 in Aptil. Now, 5 months later, we still don't know when it will ship. Chances of shipment of an unannounced card in six weeks is absolute ZERO.

You can also solder it to get good performance, that's good

But I haven't noticed any significant differences from the MX and G400, except the colors are a bit off, but that's to be expected because the MX *is* inferior to the G400 in 2D, but perhaps I have to adjust my color settings since the settings from G400 PD didn't carry over to the Nvidia drivers. We'll see, looks like I need some gamma.

Except for something that requires a properly written OpenGL driver. Both Blender and LightWave (6?) have issues with Matrox's ICD. With the old Beta ICD, the programs simply lock. With any recent drivers, the whole system locks.

I'm guessing that it is related to multiple OpenGL contexts. (I have a GLTrace file of a Blender session if anyone would like to take a look.) The most immediate solution is to turn hardware acceleration off. However, what is the point of having a G400 in that case (aside from the much lauded picture quality).

If Matrox is witholding the new ICD until the release of the G800 - which is my guess - is it honestly worth the wait?

over the weekend i went to a computer fest there were people there showing off the RT2000, and i asked them about the G800 and they said "yep should be out around xmas time, just in time for santa".
but these guys were only distributers of Matrox products and not matrox-men like i originally thought

I'll prolly hang tight with my trusty G400 Max until Matrox gets the G800 out. That 64MB Radeon VIVO is awfully tempting tho. I wish I knew someone that had one, so that I could do a comparo.

Bad Sector, if you want to read benchmarks about the Radeon, you can check at sharky or the firingsquad. I wouldn't hurry compating it to other cards on the market though since ATi are known for shipping great hardware with lousy drivers so my advice is to wait a little for the drivers to mature.
I sure hope the G800 will have the true "out of the box experience" with fully compatible working OpenGL 'n speed that could compete with the latest GeForce 2 Ultra, but it's just me being naive.

jjaegli- Sorry for the misunderstanding. My comment was pointed more towards the gaming end of things. I have heard that there are some OpenGL problems in the 3D designer software...

The Radeon has rather good and stable drivers already. Seams like almost noone have any problems with it.

It WILL come out on the PC. Microsoft knows how to make $$$. Since Halo will be mostly multiplayer where is the most $$$ in Multiplayer right now? PC. Consoles will take a loooooooonngg time to get to where PC's are online.

When I contacted Chips & Bits about my order, they told me Halo was Still scheduled for an November release, on X-Box AND PC. And in the email I got back from Bungie, they told me that no such annoucement has been made, neither has one been planned . . . So, I'm anxious to get Halo and my MilG800i !
