Yes, there are rumours of the Personal version of Whistler being the same as the Professional versions except alot of disabled stuff so that they can sell it for a low price.

OK, Whistler Personal will only support 1 CPU. I think it might have a RAM cap on it as well. Dunno, don't have either a copy of Whistler or enough ram to test it. It is going to be a direct replacement for Windows 9x and ME. It will have a different interface from Professional and above and 9x/ME by default, altho it can be changed back to a more 'normal' theme. Yes, it uses theming support. It probably won't have all the administration tools/etc. Most likely geared more towards no networking/home networking usage.

Professional - just like 2k. 2 CPU limit, some ram limit and it will share the same interface as server by default, altho you will be able to change it. Probably include more configuration options and tools.

Server - 4cpu limit, i think 4gb of ram limit. More configuration options/tools as Pro.

      Etc, etc.

I hope they fix the #%*(&*(#$ dual head problem.

It's not rumours at the moment - it's based on the preview releases being that way!

The theme support looks limited so far - and I'm surprised that Microsoft would go the theming way. WMP7 surprised me in this aspect to as it's not quite a consistant interface between skins. Microsoft have always generally been about making Windows applications easy to learn by being very similar to others? Do they think they've got the UI perfect and it's time to mess it up!

Does anyone know if there'll be limits on the skin support? i.e. not being able to change the shape of actual windows or having round start buttons etc?

I think Microsoft could go this way but seems unlikely! Maybe they could restrict OEMs to certain skins then when users get ambitious they can change them themselves...

The latest version I have is 2257 which is quite old. No skinning in this version.
