    G200 DVD PLAYBACK

    I there,
    After flashing my G200 bios with version 1.09, I'm unable to play DVD anymore. Zoran Software fails with an exclamation point(same behavoir when you try to play a DVD with a zone other than the one you card is fixed to).
    I'v tried to uninstall/install the software with no luck. So I tried to restore the previous bios, but the player still failed.
    What can I do ?

    Exactly which flavor of G200 do you have?

    Are you running the Matrox Hardware Decoder Module?

    Before flashing your bios, the Matrox utility automatically backs up your old bios. Are you SURE you ran recover.exe?

      Ok I'm using the base G200 card (8MB) with DVD and TV-OUT modules, and the Zoran SOFTDVD software bundled with the first one. I'm using the 4.33 Matrox Video Drivers, because the DVD player patch that is available on the matrox web site refuses to install, claiming that the required installed version of SOFT DVD is not present !

      This is my fault, I've not saved my previous bios during the flashing process. So I tried to flash it again with the previous version with no luck.

      Now I think I have to reinstall my entire system from scratch to confirm that I realy have trouble with the BIOS. What do you think ? Stay tuned, more news in the near future !

        I wouldn't go that far Itouch, all you need is someone else's bios reset to use temporarily.

        E-mail me and I'll walk you through it. The patch for the Zoran Software is NOT for the navigator stuff that came with your module.

        Were you using Tweak SD.05?

        First thing to do is to use the diskette you used to update your bios, boot from it, and run recover.exe under DOS. This will automatically restore your own older bios.

          Beleive it or not, but after reinstalling my system from scratch it's working !!!!

          I'ts not new that WIN98 is not stable, but i hope that matrox will soon release a W2K version of the player supporting the DVD Module.

          Again, Thanks for your help.
