They've made it this far w/o a peep and they'll most likly go the distance.(no ETAs)

    Sucks....I know!

Whatever it is I've already allocated Geforce Ultra funds aside for a worst case pricing senario(hopefully dual chip). If the high video card prices as of late are any indication of whats to come the "Geforce Ultra" price range may become common place.

So is the November announcement supposed to be an announcement of the chip or the card?

I suppose it will be the chip- with the card announced around March 2001 and then will ship around August of 2001 with widespread availability around Feburary 2002. That would make full featured drivers available mid 2005- but only for Windows 2000- nothing later.

      I can't wait!

(okay, in a bad mood tonight...)

what do you think the odds are of a single chip G800 with a slot to put another G800 into later on.

That would probably be the one I would buy. I would consider around $400 for the card and one chip, then 6 months or so down the line fork out another $200 or so for the second chip.

My guess is though that they will have the single chip version for around $300-$350, and the dual chip version for $600 or so. Probably no chance to upgrade later.

I think most people posting here will buy a G800 just to avoid mental damage being caused by the anticipation

Maybe Matrox will "do a nVidia" on us and announce the chip at some time, and afterwards announce that the boards will be in the shops in a week's time! It's a proven fact that buyers lose interest if a product is announced too early, and just look at what happened with the GeForce boards a year ago. I wouldn't get my hopes up too much though, we could be looking at an early 2k1 release here.

Oh, and what ever happened to that Matrox powered SNK console?

                  Love my G4 Max.(Falcon4...Flanker2...oh yea...desktop)

Nevertheless I`d been contemplating on gettin` on the Voodoo bandwagon, as long as they deliver today`s non FSAA performance with 4XFSAA on the V5-6000.(10by7..BTW)

What are the chances that Matrox will get on the FSAA bandwagon in your oppinion oh you Matrox Godz...

Shite I`ve waited for sooo long...I`ll endure a few more months...

I don`t give a flyin` one(no dis. to those that do) about Open GL, FPS...flightsims is all that matter to me...and the ones I think I`ll be bending mah stick in, for the years ahead, are most likely to adopt T&L as well...

So...call me all you need to...but include some kind words about how you think Matrox will relate to FSAA and T&L in the future...

Mucho obliged for all resulting speculation...

Oh yeah, bitchin` board BTW...been lurkin` for like ever...keep it up!

                    Yes, of course ...

There was mentioning of an interview with an Amiga representative who said he would have seen a G800 in action back in late July already, but unfortunately I cannot find the link to that interview again.

If you do a search for 'amiga' in this forum, you'll find the notes.

When I mentioned the Amiga guy talking about the G800 in my news section the Matrox MR guys came down on me like a ton of bricks wanting to know who the guy was, where exactly he'd posted etc.. They haven't done that for anything else I've posted about the G800.
