    Yup, you are running in AGP2X mode now... only problem being, you have zero texture memory beyond what's on the card itself. What is your AGP Apeture size set to in your BIOS? Try 256MB, then 128Mb and see if that helps...

        It is obvious what is wrong: by using the PowerStrip on a G400 you have destroyed the BIOS and completely ruined your card.

        Seriously: what that diagnostic report tells you is that the hardware is all set up and ready for AGP transfers, but the software isn't there.

        What software? Well, since the Intel GART manager and the display driver are up to date, that leaves DirectX itself.

        Try switching from DirectX 8 back to DirectX 7...

          Yup, you had to go and use PowderSniff on yer G400 and now it's smoked. Prepare for a VooDoo dance to get it running after using that nasty piece of programming

            Graphics card memory - 16 MB
            --->DirectX memory - 15 MB
            --->AGP mode - n/a
            Windows version - 4.10.1998
            DirectX version - 4.08.00.0219
            AGP driver - vgartd.vxd - 1.0.26
            --->GART manager - n/a

            It's not running in AGP. Im running Win98.
            Ashley is right "the hardware is all set up and ready for AGP transfers, but the software isn't there. "

            i've gone from DX7 to DX8 to try to fix this problem. I think it's a software problem too, but ive uninstalled everything and reinstalled it but to no avail...
            ive also tried EVERY aperture size...
            i dont know what else to do...

              Someone correct me if it's not the right help, but Slim, have you tried to uninstall your present video-drivers the right way (including the reboot) and reinstall them? It might also help to reflash your G400's BIOS.

              But before you go to do this, you said in your first post "I have a G400 16meg that used to run fine" ... What did you do just before it stopped running fine?

                Im not sure what screwed it up...
                it may have been a BIOS update or a G400 BIOS update, or drivers, or DirectX or maybe some conflict somewhere.
                I have tried to uninstall the drivers the proper way. but that didnt work either.
                The only thing is i cant seem to uninstall DX7 or DX8,
                everytime i try to install an older version it stops itself cuz a newer version is installed. is there a DX uninstaller that i cant find?

                thanks

                  a quick re-setup of win98 usually whacks the DX version back to 5 and then you can start again. Before you set up windows, completely remove all traces of matrox drivers, set your agp aperture to 256 and in your bios try and select IRQ 11 for PCI slot 0. Give the other slots that you actually use 9 or 10 and leave the rest at auto.

                  Try running PCI list after a 3d app, very often agp transfers are not enabled until they are required so they read as NA.

                  I'm sorry to hear that you got the only 300a ever made that won't do 450 :-)

                      Slim: since you asked, here is a link to a directx uninstaller.
                      http://www.ebrink.com/dxun/news.html

                      It's 3rd party, so make sure you check out the faq, etc. If you're going to re-install windows, you may want to give this a try first.

                      Heed.
                      Thought thinks itself.

                          Sorry I have no time read all this post, but yesterday I install new comp for my girlfriend with G400 DH 32Mb and I have the same problem !!! I solved it in BIOS.

                          to do: open BIOS setup and make sure there is "Initialize display first: AGP" !!! if I have PCI then windowz think it is a PCI card. Also be sure you have instaled proper drivers for your MoBo AGP.

                          I hope this will help you.

                            how/where do i get the proper Mobo/AGP drivers?
                            i have an ABIT BH6, with up to date BIOS
                            ive tried changing the init first to AGP and it doesnt help either,
                            i also tried uninstallin DirectX and reinstalling but to no avail...
                            it looks like a complete reinstallation is my only hope

                              AGP drivers might be on install CD bunled with your MoBo, or on abit web, or on pages of chipset creators, or here is posibility that this MoBo dont need them. (I have A7V MoBo)

                              btw: sorry for no help 8-(
