Let's see

Matrox G800
200-250mhz core Probably alright, who knows.
3 piplines At least you're consistent at giving the other videocards piplines as well, but I wonder what piplines are
3 texturing units per pipeline Ah, you found the e
special memory architecture ? Sure.
multi chip versions ? Yes.
full DX8 Or DX9 by that time
available in 12/2000 Errrm, you really think so? Wouldn't it have been announced by now then?
different sources Which are?

Do a search for G800 on this forum, or just read up in the latest thread downstairs G800 or whatever

Some hype and speculations
This page is dedicated to inofficial information about future video chipsets. All specs You find here, are speculations based on e-mails, other webpages, usenet, and my own knowledge of the subjekt. Most sites simply post the infos they get, and do not care, if they make sense or not. I take only the halfway logical parts and try to combine them somehow. What comes out is still pure speculation, but it tends to make at least some sense. 3dfx Rampage 200-250mhz core
4 pipelines
? texturing units per pipeline
2 times faster then VSA-100
seperate T&L unit called SAGE
DX8 support, T-buffer
scalable architecture (Rampage + SAGE)
available at the end of 2000
main source: iXBT

ATi RADEON II 220-250mhz core
3 pipelines
3 texturing units per pipeline
2 times faster then RADEON
full DX8
programmable TCL engine
to be announced during Comdex Fall 2000
available in December or early 2001
MAXX version (2 chips/AFR) 3 month later
main source: Rage3D

ATi RADEON PRO 400mhz core
? pipelines
? texturing units per pipeline
4 times faster then RADEON
enhanced rendering architecture
available in the summer of 2001
MAXX version (2 chips) 3 month later ?

nVIDIA NV20 200-250mhz core

At least be honest. You don't know when the card will be available. Say you don't know.

Until Matrox announces this card/chipset even exists, nobody knows jack.
To date, Matrox will not even confirm that any g800 anything even exists, or is in the plans.

So....how can we say your info is correct or not when this phantom piece of hardware does not even exist?

Ok, until Matrox tells us that they are working on a new generation card, we should not even think that they are. Who's got a stick up the wazoo ? This card does exist. I know jack OK? If the card didn't, then Matrox would be ending the graphics biz right here at the 450 generation. phantom? yea right! My ass hurts from sitting on the edge of my chair.

Woo air is getting alittle thick in here... I do think Kruzin has a point tho...
in here for the past few months, we've seen one form of speculation to another...
Specualtion is Great, but, Endless speculation for just the sake of just throwing any old thing out is another, it gets old quick...

Trying to pin down specifics such as release dates, Clock rates (which matrox never releases for even Acknowledged products), etc.. is futile, speaking about what technology one might want in a next gen Matiox product can produce intelegent dicussion on the Pro's and Con's of said suggestion....

Personally there is one thing I find hard to beleive would even be concidered as an option and that is Dual Chip operation...
the yields are low for a product, the sales opportunity is low, and it's very expensive... not to mention the man hours involved in making it a reality (or even an option)

...people want hype ...I simply collect hype that seems to make sense

for example : I know 99% that NV20 will have 4 pipelines (not 6 ),
from nVidia people talking about the XBOX ...

And what makes you think that the X-Box uses an nv20? It would take so much alteration it would barely seem like the same chip. They're built for completely different buses, for one..
