  • G400 TV Marvel problem with movies

Is this somethnig normal ? Every movie I try to watch with Media Player, no importance what ver is, under Win9x (2000 never tested) it lasts about 7 sec to open it, unless I got the tunner in the background. This pause at some point, - after 3 sec I think- , it's verry annonying, even the mouse can't be moved sometimes. Not to mention that with Adobe Premiere 5.0, it's impossible to edit anything, every click & move I do I have to wait 7-8 sec to see results....is this normal, or I got smth wrong ?

I'm not sure about this, but could it have something to do with the busmastering being off?

    Not sure...

GunX, you did not mention what version of mediaplayer you were using. I'd suspect 7 since I had the same problem using that one. Downgrading to 6.4 solved all problems.

This is definitely not a problem with busmastering.

It seems that 7 is searching for "something" during startup. I suspect CD or MP3 player related. (can anyone confirm?)

I wouldn't suggest upgrading to 7 anyway, if you do not need the new features. There are no improvements of 6.4 feats.

I don't have WMP7 myself(I use 6.4) but I believe by default it looks for a web update on starting up.I could be wrong!!

If searching for a web update does hog that amount of processing power (nothing is usable for the startup period) that only shows the remarkable programming abilities of MS :-)

Usually I have got such slow-downs only when software is trying to access hardware that does not exist. That's why I was thinking it might be trying to access MP3/CD players.

I recently did a fresh install of Windows and I definitely did not install MP7 on this platform and 6.4 has not posed any problems. BTW, when you are doing the downgrade, make sure you get everything from 7 uninstalled first; otherwise it will not help.

But does anybody else with Marvel G400 TV got this pause before viewing any movie ? I thought this is from the card correction functions, because the second movie I open it comes just as fine, in 0.5 sec. Also if the Tunner is running, no pause again. But this second movie in full screen looks very bad !

The big problem reamins the Adobe Premiere where this timing makes impposible any mouse clicks
