Matrox Tweak Utility doesn't work with 6.** drivers

i don't know what it is but for some reason the program doesn't reconize the fact that the card is still a G400, it just has a newer driver set then it knows.
is there a way around this?, or an update to the program?
or should i just get an entirely new program?

Which "tweak utility" are you talking about?

The original "Matrox Tweak Utility" used for overclocking the G400 cards does not work with 6.xx, and this has been known since before the 6.xx drivers where released. Matrox has not yet released any update to this original "tweak util". If this is the "tweak util" you speak of, what you are seeing is normal.


Then there is the "MTS (Matrox Tech Support) Tweak Util", which is intended, and should work with any 6.xx drivers. This util (to date) does not include any overclocking, but allows you to tweak various D3D, OGL, and other settings previously only available though registry hacks. If this is the "tweak util" you speak of, something is wrong. I'd start with a full uninstall/reinstall of your G400 drivers.

There's MGA Tweak 1.2, it's a pretty darned cool program that lets you overclock with at least PD 6.04, haven't tried it with the PD 6.10 yet. I think there's a link to it on the main MURC page?

Yep, just checked, it's under 'Latest Releases' right at the top.

how do you save your settings once you've inputted them.
i can o/c the card just fine but when i reset the comp, it doesn't save?!!
and yes i've tried checking off the save button.

Tick the "Save Settings" option and "Run Minimized", to take it to the system tray.

To make it start at Windows startup, put a shortcut to MgaTweak.exe in the Startup section of you Start menu, go to the shortcut´s properties and select "Run minimized".

now i can update my drivers from 5.52 t 6.10, and hopefully it'll get ride of those texture errors i get in CS.
and i'll still be able to o/c
maybe i can go higher with the core too
