LAMFDTK. why are you down on Matrox. Do you think they shouldnt release any drivers at all until they have one that is perfect?

If they fix the openGL screensavers, that might fix problems in other applications that havent been submited as bugs to them yet.

All they can do is fix bugs that they know about. Doing that will also fix bugs that they dont know about.

    Again, good job Matrox

Matrox have done a great job with these drivers.

When using this cfg file fore q3a I almost get an 20% increase in fps. Fastest with the resolution up to 640 and texture detail down one notch.

      Win2k 5.14:
      115.6 FPS

      Win2k 5.20:
      138.5 FPS

This brings back memories from when the frist PD 5 driver was released. I got an 20% increase in fps in Q2 with my G200 compared to the last PD 4 driver.

      Nice work Matrox

        Before I hose my system...

Has anyone tried forcing G200 compatibility the way that worked for the last betas by copying an old .inf into the install folder?

I'll be glad to be the guinea pig...but only if someone else hasn't tried.

Those new drivers don't include any G200*.* files, so any .inf wouldn't be any help. Hope matrox releases newer G200 drivers.

OK, I'm up and running on the New PD 6.10 on a G200 MarvelTV (On Win98)

Go to an older installation folder (I used PD5.55) and copy the install.inf folder and any G200.x files into your new install folder after you have expanded it, and then install as per usual.

Seems to work fine on my Marvel G200 TV and alongside the 1.54 VidTools.

I'm Running an Athlon 500@750 (thanks Greebe) on an MSI 6195 Mainboard.

3D seems to work (although I'm not a gamer)
              TV out works fine
DVD works fine through the Matrox DVD Module, including Startlingly clear TV out.

Good job, Matrox! Just installed the new drivers, and have some pretty big speed improvements! Of course, it might have something to do with the fact that I finally got my VIA AGP driver working right (now at full 4X speed instead of the 1X previous). Still, I'll take 10% speed boost any way I can get it! Shows up in 3DMark 2000, but also evident in NFS:HS, which was only marginally playable in 1600 x 1200 x 16. Now, works nice and smooth! Woo hoo!!

Hmmm, the new win2k drivers smashed my framerate in Tribes (OpenGL), went for 40-50 fps down to 20-30 Didn't have problems with corrupted textures anymore, but that framerate is just too slow.

(PIII733, win2k sp1, p3v4x latest bios and via drivers, plus w2k via agp patch)

They fixed the nasty bug that would cause the 5.1x drivers to crash on boot in W2k if you have a VIA SMP board. yeah! Q3 kinda also worked w/ r_smp 1 enabled. w00h00!

I must say I had an noticeable speed increase in Quake 3. The little graphical glitches are gone, too, although not in Unreal Tournament (D3D).

In the release notes it´s written that, in case of a speed decrease in OpenGL, V-sync should be disabled using Matrox´s Tweak Utility.

Overall, these drivers sound like an improvement. Matrox´s OpenGL poor implementation is a thing of the past.

At 20-30 fps, v-sync is not the problem!

AJ, I know that if we follow logic, refresh rates are not as low as 30Hz...

In this hardware/software biz, there´s much more than meets the eye. What seems logical is often tricky. You just have to try different stuff. V-sync may have something to do with the low framerates indirectly...

"- When Using OpenGL in HL CS, the menus will over lap and you will get corruption on the screen."

I have to say that one of the main things I do with my machine is play CS. Every 6.xx series of driver I have tried has had screen corruption no matter what I did. On one hand it's nice to see that Matrox knows about it. BUT I really want them to fix it. What did they change from the 5.xx series to the 6.xx series to cause this. PLEASE FIX THIS!!!

But I mean, 5.5 works in CS, but I would like to move up to the 6 series. Mainly because I would like to take advantage of the DVD MAX on a monitor that's available now.

Downloaded latest win2k 5.20 drivers (33.6 modem !!), checked them out, no G200 drivers, deleted latest 5.20 drivers
MATROX : give us new G200 drivers.
I hope they would fix the shifted display after hibernate bug.
