I installed JBuilder 4 Foundation yesterday, and had the same problem. I'm using a G200 Millenium with the newest drivers for this card (5.14 I think). The problem was that whenever I moved my mouse over a menu or textfield, I got a white square around the mousepointer. What I did to solve this problem, was to turn off "Hardware mouse pointer" - or something in Powerdesk options. I also turned off shadows on the mouse pointer (win 2000). After that I had no problems.

I've had a similar painting problem, not only with Borland Jbuilder, but with all Java/Swing GUI, there's always a square around the mouse cursor... I've seen this problem in both 5.10/5.14 with my g400 32meg DH

but seems ok with 5.20 so far

Goto the mouse properties in control panel and disable the mouse shadow pointer.
