Wowsers, ATi pricing in Canada has dropped quite a bit, almost on par with the US now.

If you've waited that long you should at least wait till monday if Matrox does announce the G800 on the Comdex.

But yes, the RadeonVE does look good.

well if ati is releasing a dualhead card as well, then microsoft can bloody well sort out win2k's multi monitor support.

you know you gotta love these companies and the names they come up with marketing the exact same feature trying to make it sound exclusive...
we all know Matrox started Multi-Monitor support (at least in it's current form) and named it "DUAL HEAD" pretty self explanetory "two heads" then comes nVidia and their "TWIN VIEW" which makes it sound like the image is the same on both...(whoops) now we read about ATI and thier multi monitor support and I see the word "HYDRA VISION" thrown around you gotta love it what's next? BI-View? Double Bubble? Second Screen? Siamese Sight?? I think it's hillarious!!

Two thing about the Radeon VE:

                - It will only be released in February 2001...
                - I uses 64-bits DDR-SDRAM, just like the Millennium G450, and will perform about the same as the G450, except on the image (2D/3D) quality level. And you wondered how they could offer such a full-featured card for such a low price... there's the catch, there'a ALWAYS a catch (except with my little G800 darling...)

Fairwell little G400 friend, it has been a fun ride...(snif,snif)

If you'd already used a regular Radeon I don't think you would be so keen to buy the Radeon VE.

                    Radeon VE = Geforce MX

A cheaper variant, although I must say it's "triple head" looks promising...
Someday, we'll look back on this, laugh nervously and change the subject.

One thing i noticed from the webpage is that it never mentioned output configurations. it says it will have VGA, TV/VCR and DVI on them. I just wonder if it will have 2 VGA outputs or what.

Also, what speed is the ramdac?

In reality, I think the Hydravision concept predates all the G400 cards. We are using Appian Geronimo Pro cards here at my work and they support Dual Monitors with the Hydravision software. What's more, they are the only card avilable which supports dual monitors in Win95.

This Geronimo Pro card is quite old. The display quality is poor for CRT displays, but as good as any with TFT displays.

                          ok 1 thing , well maybe 2

                          1) the radeon sd ram is supposed to go head to head wiv the geforcemx
2)the ve addition does not i repeat does not have a t&l engine (chrisma engine) and is targeted for the business area (same as the g450) apart from that it has all the same features asa normal radeon (e.g hyper z)
