Look in DisplayProperties/Advanced/Information and see what it says for the RAMDAC. For the MAX it should be 360MHz.

My MAX has subsys_id 2179 (wrong?).
Windows says it's an Matrox G400 dualhead and Matrox drivers information tab says it's an G400MAX.

Is there any reason why i should change the subsys_id (else then that windows sees it as an max)??

nope .. as long as Powerdesk identifies the proper parts, everything is fine.

Maybe you could check, what Joel suggested (spedd of RAMDAC)

Probably your card have a wrong SUBSYS_ID!
SUBSYS_ID for the MAX had to be 217d while for normal G400 is 2179!
Check it with MXINFO in the first screen: http://grafi.ii.pw.edu.pl/gbm/matrox/MXINFO.EXE

My irish G400MAX also has the same ID problem.

My subsys_id is 2179 but again i've got a MAX(360Mhz RAMDAC) .Maybe its the irish thing .

Sometimes i force the drivers to Matrox Millenium G400 Dualhead max English and i see no difference!

              Anyway...

You could alter the pins and put the right subsys_id in if you really want to. Although, if Matrox made it like this, leave it alone.

they use the same drivers, it doesn't matter.
