kjliew - Thanks for the info. I guess that explains that, though I hope this isn't a horrible limitation in the long-run. I guess my old motherboard (a rev. 1 Giga-byte BX board) was limiting me only in that the BIOS didn't support anything higher.

1800 3DMarks2000 are too low for your system. I got ~3000 with my Athlon600 in Win98, maybe 2800 in Win2k.

Are you sure your G400Max is running in AGP2x or 4x mode? IRQ conflicts? H/W acceleration set to max?

Just ran the 3DM2K a few times at default settings. Averaged ~3600 3dmarks. One of my friends who has a 1GHz T-Bird got a little bit higher than me, so it looks like the MAX hits its limit around here.

My system is an AMD Duron 800@1GHz, 256MB PC133 CAS2.

I have just checked my device manager and there r no device conflicts, and my G400 MAX is on its own, on IRQ9, not sharing. And hardware acceleration is on full?????
And im pretty sure my board is using AGP2x at least, as my mobo supports 4x, and i just tried the desktop diagnostics and bus mastering is working fine. I have also just checked my mobo bios and it is on 2x AGP at the moment.

I was perusing Usenet the other day reguarding sound cards. Those who had the SBLive reported significant loss of fps.

Maybe 'yall should try rerunning the tests with a different sound card?
