Viability of Rainbow runner gseries add-on?

Hi there, can anyone tell me how good is the rainbow runner addon for a g400 dh
for editing home movies?
I have a small HD about 6.4 gigs )
and my mo'board only supports dma 33
should i get the rainbow or a hardware mpeg2 card like a pinnacle netstream?
Im hoping I can get away with only chopping like 15-20 minutes at a time then saving those files on a cdr...would this work or am i just confused
