    Barbarella:
Yes, I have tested the OGL problems with everything stripped out except the SBLive and the G400.
The ISA NIC (Feb) was a necessary evil because for some reason the Soho PCI NIC(3com clone), installed by cable internet company totally crashed the system. Couldn't even turn the computer on. Thought it was an IRQ issue.

You see what I mean. P3B-F owners do not normally have a problem with the G400 and OGL.

Looks like M/B BIOS version is a likely culprit. Our local computer tech guys have been strongly cautioning me against flashing M/B BIOS for months but its about the only thing I haven't tried.

My BIOS is set for the following straight from the store.

      SDRAM Configuration by SPD
      SDRAM CAS Latency 3T
SDRAM RAS To CAS Delay 3T
      SDRAM RAS Precharge Time 3T
      DRAM Idle Timer 10T
      SDRAM MA Wait State Normal
Graphic Aperture Setting 64MB (256 is ugly)
All the other values are the same as yours.

Does your having a P3-633Mhz allow you to go to 2T or is it the version of the M/B BIOS?

        Ok, here goes:

        1. 1003 is a VERY OLD BIOS for the P3B-F. Update to 1006 immediately.

        2. The latest drivers you tried were Beta 6.0? Those were HORRIBLE in OpenGL. Get 6.04 immediately.

        3. FULLY UNINSTALL THE CURRENT DRIVERS. This means setting the display to "standard pci vga adapter" and then running the Matrox uninstaller to totally remove all Matrox files.

        4. Reinstall the drivers (6.04, not beta 6.0!)

        5. Make sure your games are running at 85hz (or at least 75 or something). 60hz is just bad bad bad - both as a multiple (let's not get into screen draw theory, ok?) and just 'cuz it HURTS to look at...

        6. After trying all of this, get back to us.

I'm the least you could do, oh yeah

        I would still get screwed

          Hey, I have an idea.
Why don't I try flashing that BIOS?

          ckingford:
          I worded the question incorrectly.
I should have asked if being at a lowly 500 Mhz would support those BIOS settings of 2T and an SDRAM MA Wait State of Fast..
I poked around my BIOS and the ASUS site and see that I can change them.

My system should theoretically have a max Graphic Aperture Setting of 64 MB, but that has always been one of the first things the Matrox tech support asked me to change in the BIOS.

          Thanks for everyone's help.
I'll give it a shot and get back you with
          the results.

I'm back. Put in a new hard drive, CDROM, formatted, virgin install of Win98se and G400 6.04 drivers. Flashed that darn BIOS to 1006.

            Half Life (1.1.0.1)
All graphic glitches and crashes on saves are eradicated. BUT that full screen tearing still exists.
Tried using the Matrox Tweak Utility version 2 and 3. Enabling vflip of course doesn't help the 6.04. I found that setting OGL to "accuracy" made the graphics sharper but thats it.

Baldurs Gate 2 ( with or without patch)
            2D is exquisite.
I configured to 3d for a mid range computer,
800X600X16 or X32. Hit play. I can hear the CDROM accessing, the BG start menu minimizes and then the screen goes black. Then the minimized tab disappears.
Tried with a new game, previous saves, with the patch.

            Device Manger:
Everything has its own (or shared steering) IRQS.
The only thing that looks unusual is the "ACPI IRQ Holder for PCI IRQ Steering" on 5 with the SMC NIC, on 10 with SBL and on 11 with the G400.
I have no idea what it is.

Leo from Matrox support is giving me a hand but it doesn't look good.

I just thought that I would let you know what the end results were.
            Thanks again for your advice.

Wanna know what I did because tearing in Q3 was driving me crazy? Since I play Q3 at 800x600@32-bit color, I just went in and told the matrox cp that I wanted to have the refresh rate of the monitor at this resolution set to 100Hz. That way I can still keep my normal 2D resolution at 85, because some ppl say that 100Hz is bad.

But you know what, I makes a big difference.

I tried the Full ICD with VSYNC enabled and it was very choppy. So I went back the the TurboGL (it does not support VSYNC) and jacked up the refresh rate.
