  • G400 MAX crashes UT: SF/ Win2K

I'm having strange problem that recently started upon switching from Windows 9x to Win2K (full HD wipe/install). My Matrox G400 MAX, which had previously performed with no problem in UT:Strike Force now randomly freezes on the Win2K platform. Sometimes UT crashes with a pattern of multi-colored lines (layering on top of each other). Most of the time, however, UT just cold freezes (occassionally the HUD gets very bright in the frozen picture). I am overclocking my system, but this exact same system worked fine under Win98. Also the AGP bus is barely overclocked as I have a Celeron CPU. The G400MAX itself is not overclocked.

    Latest BIOS and drivers.

    Intel Celeron II 900mhz
    Abit BE6-II
    128MB CL-2 RAM
    Matrox G400MAX
    Diamond MX300

I'm not an expert on W2K or W2K gaming, but as far as I know, the OS can be a lot fussier about overclocking than Windows 98. Have you tried it with your CPU at spec?
