  • G450, DualHead and Windows 2000Pro

    Hi,

I have a Millennium G450 and have tried all the drivers I could find at Matrox' website.

    I'm running Windows 2000, and uses a 19" and a 15" monitor. On the 19" I want to run 1280*1024@85Hz (or 1600x1200@75), and on the 15" I want to run 1024x768@80Hz.... but I can't.

I belived that this issue with different resolutions on both monitors was an issue with the G400, and have been fixed with the G450. Is the problem still the same? Matrox promote the card as a "corporate"-card, and I then belive the Win2000-support should be better!

Anyone know if the NVidia TwinView-cards have the same problem under Windows 2000? Different resolutions seems to work in some modes with the G450, but not with the extended desktop-mode.

Maybe I should start searching for my g'old Millennium PCI-card.. :-|
    OKI.

It's a known limitation of Win2000 that is doesn't support two separate resolutions when being provided from a one-chip solution ...

MS told they would support it in SP1, but they just did not.

Sorry, but unless MS decides to imply that support, you're stuck with two identical resolutions when using a one-chip dualhead solution.

    Cheers,
    Maggi

PS: TwinView suffers from the same problem, although it's not nearly as versatile as DualHead is ...
Despite my nickname causing confusion, I am not female ...
